How Much?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:5
We have talked a lot about obedience to God. If you want to show God how much you love Him, it all starts with obedience. Jesus says in John 14:15, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” Obedience is the foundation of our love for God.
We have walked through many different ways you can obey God. But there is something we haven’t talked about, and that is FAITH. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”
If you want to obey God, you must trust Him. And I’m not talking about just trusting Him with a few things; you must trust Him with everything in your life. As we looked at yesterday, we must bring God into every area of our life. When we reject God in certain areas, we are really saying we don’t trust God in that area of our life.
But He is not a “sometimes God” and He is not a “most of the time God.” If you want to obey the Lord, you must bring Him into every area of your life, and you must trust Him in every area of your life. To not trust Him is to not please Him, which is disobeying Him.
The foundation of our relationship with God is built on trust. Trust is when we believe in that which we cannot see. We did not see Jesus die on the cross, and yet we believe He died for us. It is great to trust God with your eternity, but God also wants you to trust Him with your life now.
In everything you do, invite God into the situation. Invite God into your relationships. Do you trust Him? How much? The answer depends on how much you are making Him a part of each aspect of your life. Let Him be a part of it all. Give Him access to everything in your life. You won’t regret it!
