Growing in Wisdom
“Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.” - Ephesians 1:17
Do you ever wonder what God is thinking? Have you ever prayed, “God if you would just tell me what you want me to do, I’ll do it.” If you are struggling to know the heart of God, it might be time to pray for wisdom. Wisdom is the greatest gift you can receive once you have given your life to Christ.
There is a reason Solomon, considered the wisest man to ever live, was always asking for wisdom. There is a reason the entire book of Proverbs was written to give wisdom. It is that important. And for those who seek it, the blessings that follow are truly limitless.
Ephesians 1:17 says, “Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.”
Wisdom is the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, and lasting. When you have wisdom, you can know the will of God and follow Him step-by-step. You will be able to decipher what is true and what is not. You will be able to differentiate between right and wrong. You can know what God wants for you and what He doesn’t want for you.
When you can (quickly) discover what God wants for your life and what He doesn’t, it will save you a whole lot of heartache. Wisdom is one of the greatest tools you can acquire in your spiritual life. Obedience comes a lot easier when you have wisdom.
When you have wisdom, you start to know the heart of God. And trust me, it is a lot easier to make decisions when you know God’s heart and what He wants for you. Do you want to know the heart of God? Do you want to avoid a lot of pain and heartache? Grow in wisdom and watch how your life will change!
