It Doesn’t Define You
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
Do you know one of the many things I love about God? He sure can create quite the redemption story, can’t He? God has a knack for taking someone who seems to be down and out or “too far gone” and doing a complete 180 with their life.
God loves to take those who have been looked over, counted out, and ignored, and bring them to the forefront of society. These aren’t often the individuals that we would think should be in the front. But that is exactly how God works. And you know why? Because when He does this with someone we have discounted, He gets the credit!
This happens all the time. There are examples in the Bible, and there are examples walking all over the world right now. Stop a believer and talk to them long enough, and you are likely to hear their version of a redemption story. That is exactly what God does.
And you know what? He will do the same for you. Listen, the thing that you think has a hold of you, it doesn’t. The thing you think you can't escape, you can. Whatever you are going through or whatever you are mixed up in, it doesn’t define you. God doesn’t see “drug addicts.” He doesn’t see “gamblers.” Nor does He see “alcoholics.”
Do you know what God sees? His children. He sees someone to love and someone He can make a miracle out of. That is exactly what God wants to do. He wants to make a miracle out of your life. You are not defined by what has happened to you or what you have gotten into.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
As a child of God, you are free from all of that! You are not defined by sin. You are HIS! And He is ready to do amazing things in your life. Now, are you ready?
