Content With Life
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” - Hebrews 13:5
As we continue to look at what it means to “be real,” I want to ask you another important question: are you content with your life? We have talked a lot over the last couple of days about “editing.” Many people now buy apps that allow them to “edit” their pictures and videos.
These editing apps allow them to look skinnier than they actually are, appear tanner than they actually are, or even make their teeth whiter than they actually are. These apps can do amazing things. But why do we use them?
We use them because there is a part of us that we aren’t content with. We don’t want to appear as heavy as we are, as pale as we are, or as old as we are. We aren’t content. But this doesn’t just apply to pictures or videos. What about the rest of our lives?
Are you content with what you have? Or are you trying to make your life look like something it is not? There are people who are pretending they have more than they really do or telling people they have something they do not. Why? Because they are not content with what they actually have.
But God warns us about loving money. Hebrews 13:5 says, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”
Listen, there is nothing wrong with working hard and having nice things. But for those who don’t have it, chasing after material things and trying to live this life you don’t have is not the move. God wants you to be content with what you have.
When you are obedient to Him, He will take care of your needs. He will provide for you when you need something, and He will never leave you lacking. Are you content with what you have? Or are you always looking for more? Thank God today for what He has given you and ask Him to help you remain content in all circumstances.
