Someone To Encourage
“We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.” - Romans 15:2
Over the last couple of days, we have talked about our need for community. Whether this is in the church (which is always encouraged) or outside the church, we all need people in our lives who are strong believers looking to grow in their walk with Christ. That is not just an opinion, but the Word of God instructs us to do so.
But why? Why do we need like-minded people to walk beside us through our faith-filled journey? Over the next four days, we are going to look at four reasons it is important for all of us to have a community or a group of people around us as we walk through the Christian life.
The first reason we need a community is because we all need encouragement. And where do you find encouragement? From those that are walking the same path. Think about it, if you are around non-believers, why would they encourage you in your faith? They don’t believe what you believe. Their advice is likely to be skewed toward the things of this world.
But when you have other believers in your corner, they can come alongside you and encourage you even through life’s toughest circumstances. Romans 15:2 says, “We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.”
God never intended for you to walk through life alone. Trust me, life is going to be hard. There will be great moments and good moments...but there will also be hard moments. And during those hard times, when it isn’t always easy to walk the narrow road, you need others to encourage you to stay on track.
That is why a community is so important! You need people in your corner encouraging you to do what God has called you to do.
Who are those people in your life? Do you have people who encourage you even when life gets tough?
