Your Impact
“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” - Acts 20:35
Over the last few days, we have talked about the importance of community. As believers in Christ, it is vital to have a group of people around us who are also pursuing the will of God and continuing to grow their faith and relationship with Him.
The Bible tells us we need these types of people around us. We need community. Over the last three days, we have seen why that is. Having a community of like-minded believers around us provides encouragement, wisdom, and someone to hear us.
These are all things we as human beings need. But they are not the only reasons we need a community. See, having a community is not just about what they can do for us, but what we can do for them. Just as important as their impact is on your life is your impact on theirs.
The Bible tells us that we are not just to take, but that it is better to give than to receive. Acts 20:35 reminds us of this when it says, “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Having a community is important. Being someone who can impact others is just as important. God doesn’t want you to be isolated. Not only because it is bad for you, but because of what the people around you are missing out on without what you bring to the table.
God might have someone who needs you. Someone who needs your wisdom, who needs to know what you’ve been through, and who needs your perspective.
But we can’t do this if we are not in a community. If you are not already, I would encourage you to find a community you can be a part of, not only will you be strengthened and encouraged by them, but they would be blessed by the part you play as well!
