Do You Remember?
“But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.” - Isaiah 53:5
I want to ask you a question today...do you remember what Jesus did on the cross? You might be thinking, “Pastor, of course I remember. How could I forget?” But I didn’t ask you if you forgot. I asked if you remember.
More specifically, how often do you remember what Jesus did on the cross? Sure, we are thankful for what He did. We acknowledge that without Jesus going to the cross, there would be no hope of heaven for us. We’ve heard the story preached.
But how often do you stop to remember what Jesus did for you on that cross? Isaiah 53:5 says, “But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.”
He was tortured. He was killed…all for us. The thorns that pierced His head, the lashings that struck His naked body, the nails that penetrated his hands, the mockery that He listened to...do you remember?
He did it all for you. He didn’t deserve that. You did. He never sinned. You did. And because of what He did, you have the opportunity to spend eternity in heaven with Him. Do you remember?
I didn’t ask if you had forgotten, but I want to know how often you remember. It’s so easy with all we have going in life to just continue through. But I want to encourage you today to STOP. Really give yourself some time to think about what Jesus did for you on that cross.
Then spend some time thanking Him for what He did. There is no greater love than one dying for others. That’s what Jesus did. Without His death, you have no hope. You deserved the cross. But He took the punishment for you. Do you remember?
