Your People

“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” - Proverbs 18:24

If you have given your life to Christ and you are pursuing Him, His plan, and His purpose for your life, then I want to specifically speak to you today. As you remain obedient to God and faithful in pursuing Him, who are your people?

You say, “Pastor... my people?” That’s right, who are your people? Who are the people that are coming alongside you on your journey? You hear it from all the successful people in every field. It doesn’t matter if it is a billion-dollar CEO, a world-class athlete, or an iconic artist, they all have “their people.”

This is the group that rides with them no matter what. These are friends closer than even family. In fact, we see how important this is in Proverbs 18 when it says, “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

See, God didn’t create you to do life alone. His plan is not for you to ride it out solo or “do your own thing.” That doesn’t mean that you can be independent and have an introverted personality.

But it does mean that you can’t go through life all by yourself. All the best have their people. And God wants you to have people too. Whether it is godly co-workers, childhood friends who have grown up with you and have seen your faith journey, or your current small group, you need people who are encouraging you in your spiritual walk.

Life is difficult. It is even more difficult when you try to do it alone. If you want to live the life God designed for you, you are going to need to have “your people.” Who are your people?
