Putting God First: It's not just a trend, it's a lifestyle
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33
Today, I want to talk about something that's on all of our minds: priorities. It seems like everyone is busy these days, with work, school, family, hobbies, and social media taking up so much of our time and energy. But have you ever stopped to ask yourself: what's really important? What's truly worth prioritizing in our lives?
As Christians, the answer is clear: we need to put God first. It's not just a trendy thing to say, it's a way of life. We see this message throughout the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus himself tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and everything else will fall into place. When we prioritize God in our lives, everything else starts to make sense.
Putting God first means more than just attending church on Sundays or reading the Bible occasionally. It means making God the foundation of our lives, and everything else builds on top of that. It means spending time with him every day, through prayer, worship, and reading the Bible. It means seeking his guidance and wisdom in all our decisions, big and small. It means living a life that reflects his love and grace to those around us.
When we put God first, we start to see the world in a different light. Our priorities shift, and we begin to see things from an eternal perspective. We start to realize that our time, our energy, and our resources are all gifts from God, and we want to use them in a way that honors him. We start to see opportunities to serve others and share the love of Christ with those around us.
So, I encourage you today to make the choice to put God first in your life. It's not always easy, and there will be times when other things try to pull us away from him. But remember the words of Matthew 6:33 and let them be your guide. Seek first the kingdom of God, and everything else will fall into place. Let's make putting God first not just a trend, but a lifestyle.
