The Purpose in Waiting

"But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31

Waiting is often seen as an inconvenience in a world that values instant gratification. Yet, in the divine economy of God, there's purpose woven into every season of anticipation. The why behind the wait is a mystery we unravel in the light of His wisdom.

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." The waiting isn't aimless; it's a transformative process where God shapes us into vessels capable of carrying His promises.

In the waiting, God addresses the impatience within us, teaching us the art of trusting His timing. He sees beyond our limited perspective, orchestrating circumstances and aligning details that we cannot fathom. Waiting, then, becomes an act of surrender, acknowledging that God's ways are higher than ours.

God makes us wait to cultivate perseverance. The journey toward His promises isn't always a sprint; it's a marathon. The delays, uncertainties, and unanswered prayers are the training ground where our spiritual endurance is strengthened. As we persevere, our character is refined, and our dependence on God deepens.

Waiting is the classroom where we learn the profound lesson of reliance on God's sovereignty. It's an opportunity to release the illusion of control and embrace the truth that God is the author and finisher of our faith. In the waiting, He invites us to relinquish our plans, surrendering to His perfect will.

Furthermore, waiting prepares us to receive the fullness of God's blessings. Just as a seed requires time in the soil before it breaks through the surface as a flourishing plant, our dreams and desires need the gestation period of waiting. God, in His infinite wisdom, ensures that the timing aligns with His purpose for our lives.

God makes us wait not to withhold from us but to prepare us. In the waiting, let's trust, persevere, and embrace the transformative journey, knowing that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, soaring on wings of unwavering faith.
