Are You Going Through the Motions?

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31

Are you just going through the motions? It's easy to fall into that trap, isn't it? You wake up, say your prayers, read your Bible, go to church, rinse, and repeat. But are you really engaging with God, or are you just checking off items on your spiritual to-do list?

Here's the thing: God isn't interested in religious routines. He's not looking for robotic obedience. He wants your heart, your passion, your expectancy. He wants you to come to Him with anticipation, fully believing that He's about to do something incredible in your life.

Think about it this way: when you're expecting a package in the mail, you don't just sit idly by, twiddling your thumbs, do you? No, you eagerly wait by the door, anticipating the moment when the delivery arrives. That's the kind of expectancy God wants from us.

Too often, we settle into a comfortable routine with God. We go through the motions of faith without really expecting Him to show up in a big way. And then we wonder why we're not experiencing the breakthroughs we long for.

When we decide to step out of the rut of routine and start actively waiting on God with expectancy, that's when the breakthroughs come. That's when mountains move, chains break, and miracles happen.

Today I want to challenge you to shake off the dust of routine and approach God with fresh expectancy. Spend time in prayer, not just reciting words, but truly pouring out your heart to Him. Open your Bible with anticipation, expecting Him to speak to you through its pages. And when you pray, believe with all your heart that God is listening and that He will answer.

When you live with that kind of expectancy, you'll find that breakthroughs become the norm rather than the exception. So, let's stop going through the motions and start living with eager anticipation of all that God wants to do in and through us.
