What Are You Chasing?

"What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?" - Matthew 16:26

Take a moment to pause and reflect on your life. What consumes your thoughts and drives your actions? What are you chasing after?

It's easy to get caught up in the pursuit of worldly things—to chase after success, wealth, pleasure, and recognition. We convince ourselves that if we just attain a certain level of status or acquire a specific possession, then we'll finally be happy and fulfilled. But at what cost?

Jesus poses a sobering question in Matthew 16:26: What good is it to gain the whole world but lose your soul in the process? In other words, is what you're chasing after worth missing out on God's blessings for? Is the temporary satisfaction of worldly pursuits worth sacrificing the eternal riches of His kingdom?

Think about it for a moment. When we choose to chase after the things of this world over what God has called us to, the cost could be something far greater than we could ever imagine. We risk missing out on His abundant blessings, His unfailing love, and His perfect plan for our lives.

Imagine looking back at the end of your life and wondering what could have been if you had been obedient to God's calling. What opportunities did you miss out on? What blessings did you forfeit? It's a sobering thought, isn't it?

I challenge you to examine your heart today. What are you chasing after, and is it worth it? Is it worth missing out on the abundant life that God has promised you? Is it worth sacrificing your soul for temporary pleasures and fleeting desires?

Remember, the things of this world will fade away, but the word of the Lord endures forever. Don't let the allure of worldly pursuits distract you from what truly matters. Choose today to chase after God's heart, His will, and His kingdom. For in Him alone will you find true satisfaction, lasting joy, and eternal fulfillment.
