Submitting to God

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you." - 1 Peter 5:6

Humility is often misunderstood as merely avoiding self-promotion or boasting. While it certainly includes these aspects, true humility goes much deeper. It's about submitting to God and recognizing that His wisdom and knowledge far surpass our own. Arrogance leads us to believe we know better than God, resulting in disobedience and self-reliance. Genuine humility involves surrendering our will to His and trusting in His perfect plan.

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." When we rely on our understanding and ignore God's guidance, we're essentially telling God that we believe we know better. This is the essence of arrogance. True humility, on the other hand, acknowledges that God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.

Submitting to God means seeking His will in every aspect of our lives. It's not just about avoiding sinful behaviors but actively pursuing a life that honors Him. This submission requires us to let go of our plans and desires, trusting that God's plans are for our good and His glory.

Are you living in true humility? Are you merely avoiding boastfulness, or are you genuinely submitting every area of your life to God's authority? Confess any arrogance and ask God to help you cultivate a humble heart that trusts Him completely.

True humility transforms our lives. It brings us into deeper relationship with God and aligns our will with His. As we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, He will exalt us at the proper time. His timing and plans are perfect, and He is faithful to fulfill His promises.

Choose to live in true humility. Submit to God in all things, trusting His wisdom and following His lead. In doing so, you honor Him and position yourself to receive His abundant blessings.
