The Endless Chase for More

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." - 1 John 2:15

It’s easy to get caught in the chase. You think, "If I could just have a little more, then I’ll be happy." A little more money, a bigger house, the latest TikTok shop trend, more clothes, more success.

The problem is, “more” never ends. You buy something you’ve been wanting, and soon enough, you’re already eyeing the next thing. There’s always another sale, another “must-have” item, another achievement to unlock. But no matter how much you acquire, it’s never enough. Why? Because the things of this world were never designed to satisfy your soul.

You see it all around, people trying to fill a void with material possessions. The rush of receiving an Amazon package might give you a temporary thrill, but how long does that last? Not long, because once it fades, you're left searching for the next thing. We can fool ourselves into thinking that if we just had more—more money, more power, more attention, more pleasure—that we’d finally be content. But chasing “more” is like trying to catch the wind. You can never grasp it.

The truth is, nothing in this world will ever truly satisfy you. Material things, success, pleasure, they all have their limits. No matter how much you have, there’s always something else to want, something else to strive for. It’s an endless cycle that leaves you feeling empty, frustrated, and unfulfilled. And that’s because the things of this world were never meant to fill the deepest desires of your heart. They can’t satisfy what only God can.

God designed you to need Him. When you chase after material things, you're trying to fill a void that only God can fill. It’s like drinking salt water, it only makes you thirstier. The more you try to satisfy yourself with the things of this world, the more you realize how empty you really are. But God offers something so much better: true contentment, peace, and joy that come from knowing Him. Only He can satisfy the deepest desires of your heart.

So the next time you’re tempted to chase after more, stop and ask yourself—what am I really looking for? What am I trying to fill? Then turn to God. Let Him be the one who satisfies your soul because He is the only One who truly can.
