Broadcasting Jesus
“You are a light to the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
- Matthew 5:14-16
- Matthew 5:14-16
Yesterday, we talked about being willing to hustle. As believers, God has called us to be different from the world. He has chosen us, as his sons and daughters, to be a light to the rest of the world. Matthew 5:14 says, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” God does not want us to be hidden; instead, He wants us to be living, breathing examples of His Son, Jesus.
We spent time yesterday talking about your hustle because your work ethic is one of the best ways to broadcast Jesus in your life, especially in today’s economy where so many people are bragging about getting checks for sitting at home. So many places are short staffed because they cannot get enough employees to work.
Many lump sum everyone into the same category and use the general statement “today’s society is lazy.” While this statement might sound unfair to those of us who do work hard and pour ourselves into our work, this is an awesome opportunity for us to set ourselves apart as Jesus followers. This is a way you and I can stand out amongst all those who do not want to work.
When you work hard, you are shining a light. You are standing out. And when you stand out, you create a platform that you can use to share Jesus with others. They might ask you why you work so hard. That is when you can tell them it is what Jesus asks of you, and as a believer you serve Him. What an amazing opportunity you have these days! Just by choosing to hustle and working hard you can broadcast Jesus to a world who desperately needs Him!
