The Focus Of Your Attention
“Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars. He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke.”
- Revelation 10:1-3
- Revelation 10:1-3
Yesterday we talked about the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and their obedience to Jesus. They refused to worship the king and as a result were thrown in the fiery furnace. But when they went in, they were not only unfazed by the fire, but they were joined by an angel. That angel is the same angel described in Revelation 10.
The passage says, “Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven...” This angel is none other than Jesus, Himself. Over the last seven weeks, we have unpacked the book of Revelation. Throughout this book, and especially as of late, we see all of the hard times that will come, and how those tough circumstances will also fall on those who choose to give their life to Jesus.
But it is important that we remember who is the focus of our attention. Despite all of the torturing and violence and destruction, despite the false hope and pretending of the anti-Christ and demons, here comes Jesus. Verse 3 says, “and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke.”
Can you imagine how loud that will be? When Jesus comes, and when Jesus speaks, everyone will be paying attention. It does not matter what has happened before. Here comes Jesus, the focus of everyone’s attention. As believers, thankfully, we will not be on earth during this time.
But it teaches us even now, no matter what awful things are going on, Jesus is in
control, and He is the one with the real power. And because of this, He should remain the focus of your attention! Because no matter what has happened, just like when that day comes, He can change it all, and He can do so, quickly!
