Decoding The Lies
“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)
Yesterday we talked about the masked man. And who is the masked man? Satan. Unlike the image that is often portrayed of him, Satan is not going to come to earth colored red with horns and a pitchfork. We know this image and thus it is easy or at least easier, to ignore what he is saying. Because of this, he is going to come disguised.
Satan wants to build the trust of society before he unveils himself to the world. But this tactic is not new for Satan. He disguises himself in our lives all the time. Satan is constantly communicating with us. He tempts us and presents us with decisions and options that might appear to be the right thing but are not. And because he is trying to be sneaky, we must learn to decode what he is really saying.
We know he is disguised because 2 Corinthians 11 tells us so. Verse 14 says that “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” He does not want you to know that he is the evil one coming with evil intentions. But everything he wants you to do is for your destruction or the destruction of others. His words might sound enticing but they are all lies.
So how do we decode the lies? We learn the truth. The only way to know if something is false, is to know what is true. Think about it, if you do not know that 2 + 2 is 4, then someone could tell you it’s 3, and you believe them. You believe them because you do not know the right answer. We learn the right answer by studying the Word of God.
God’s Word is filled with truth — truths that, when followed, will always be for our benefit. His Word is the exact opposite of Satan’s lies. But the only way to decode those lies are to learn God’s truths. Are you studying the Word to learn the truth? If you do so, you will be better prepared for Satan’s attacks. Study the Word of God and stay ready to decode the lies.
