The Value Of Counterfeit
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Value. It is a word we might not say often but probably think about all the time. Everything has value. Memorabilia has value, experiences have value, money has value. Everything has value. We give our time and effort to things that we believe hold value, and ignore and completely dismiss the things we believe have little to no value. It is the way the world works.
What is the value of counterfeit? You might say, well if they take it, it has the value of whatever it is portrayed to be. A fake $100 bill can buy you something for... well, $100. But what is the value when it is discovered as a fake? The value then becomes negative. The result of using this counterfeit bill could lead to prison.
And this is exactly how Satan operates. 2 Corinthians 4:4 tells us, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” Satan portrays himself as God. He blinds the mind of unbelievers. So many people follow Satan. Maybe they do not worship him in church, but they do worship him with their actions.
They do exactly what he wants them to do. They steal, they cheat, they do whatever is in their own best interest. He tells them it’s good, and they continue to do it. But it is all counterfeit. In the beginning, it might seem like it is working. There might be no initial consequences, but they are coming eventually. And when the counterfeit is found to be fake, the consequences are brutal.
There is no value to counterfeit. It is fake. And Satan is fake, a fraud. Do not be mistaken, Satan is very real, but what he speaks is fake. And it leads to nothing of value. And when you buy into his lies, you will not only find no value, but the consequences will be painful. Do not be tricked into using Satan’s counterfeit. Use the real thing. God is the real thing, and what He gives is of the highest value!
