Your Value Is Real
“So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:31)
One day I was picking my kids up from school, after which I had to run an errand to go to Lowe’s. This particular Lowe’s was across the street from the school, but you had to cross over six lanes of traffic. Out of my peripheral vision I see a bag in the middle of the median with money in it. But as I look out my driver’s side window, I see that it’s a bag of mashed up food, and really gross, but there is money in it.
My kids say, “Dad, please don’t do it!” I get the money out of the bag, I get in the driver’s seat, I roll down my window and I’m driving with the money outside of the window trying to air dry it. As we get to Lowe’s we get exactly what we need, the kids get some candy and we approach the cash register.
As I go to hand the man money my kids say, “Dad, don’t give him the money you just picked up.” I turned around and told them, “It does not matter, you know why? Because when it has a seal or a crest, it has value. It does not matter if it has been driven over, stomped on, left in a bag of garbage. No matter if it has been crinkled up, or wrinkled up, no matter what it looks like, if it says it is five dollars, it’s five dollars. If it says it’s ten dollars, it’s ten dollars. No matter what it looks like the value remains the same.”
If you are a believer of Christ, the same is true of you, no matter what has happened, no matter what others have done to you or what you have done for yourself. Satan might try to make you believe that the value the Bible tells you that you have is fake. But it is very real.
No matter what you have done, or others have done to you, if you are a child of God, then you are of value to the King of kings and Lord of lords. Your value is real and He values you like you could never imagine! Never let anyone tell you otherwise.
