All Light, All The Time
“The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:24-25,27)
As we look at Revelation 21, we see a description of the New Jerusalem and what life will be like in the new heaven God creates on this new earth. What a beautiful place it will be. Revelation 21:23 says, “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.”
What an amazing picture! There is no need for the sun or the moon. What is the purpose of the sun and moon? To bring light, of course. But there is no need because God will be the light. The passage continues saying there will never be night. Basically, it will be all light, all the time.
We associate the light with Christ and darkness with Satan. But there will be no darkness because, “Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” At this point, there is no more darkness.
I know you might be going through something right now and you might be thinking, this all sounds great, but right now I have a lot of darkness in my life. There is a lot of hurt, and pain. But hold on, because there is coming a day where darkness will cease to exist. You can rejoice in knowing that every valley has its season, but this dark season will not last forever. There is coming a day where it will be all light, all the time.
