Set Apart
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God.” - Deuteronomy 28:1-2
Have you ever wanted to be different? Have you ever wanted to stand out from the crowd? For many people, this is a quick “NO” because so many people spend all of their time just wanting to fit in. They don’t want to stand out. They don’t want any attention. They just want to go with the flow.
There isn’t anything wrong with wanting to “fit in” as long as fitting in isn’t sinning against God. But if you are one who dares to be different... to BE MORE...to DO MORE, this devotion is for you. Deuteronomy gives us the blueprint for how we can be set apart from everyone else who is just going through the motions, looking to fit in.
Deuteronomy chapter 28 starts with these two verses, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God.”
Did you catch that? If you will be FULLY obedient to God and CAREFULLY obey His commands, He will set you HIGH ABOVE all the nations of the world. If that doesn’t sound like being set apart, I don’t know what does!
See, God didn’t design you to just fit in. God created you for more. God wants to use you to reach others, to impact others, and to make a difference. But to do that, it might require being different. Standing out is how others will notice you! This doesn’t mean you have to be crazy or dress crazy or act crazy. On the contrary, God is telling us if we will be OBEDIENT to Him, He will set us HIGH ABOVE all nations.
If you want to be set apart, be obedient. It really is that simple!
