Obey Carefully
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God.” - Deuteronomy 28:1-2
If you want to be set apart, then you must be obedient to God. As a believer, God wants to set us apart. We are His chosen people, and He wants us to act like it. So, how can we be set apart? How can we be different? It starts with obedience.
Yesterday, we looked at how we must be FULLY obedient. God doesn’t want part-time obedience. We must commit to full obedience, all the time. But there is more.
Deuteronomy 28:1 says, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.”
Did you catch that? “If you FULLY obey the Lord your God AND CAREFULLY keep all His commands...” You must fully obey, but you must also CAREFULLY OBEY. To carefully obey, we must understand what God wants for us.
Everyone is different. What God is calling one person to do may not be what He is calling you to do. What God has deemed unnecessary for someone else might be necessary for you. This is where we must stay in constant communication with Him so that we know what He wants for our lives.
It is important to know what God wants for us so that we can carefully obey His commands. When we aren’t in constant communication with Him, it is easy to fall into something that God didn’t have in mind. That is when we can get into real trouble. If you want to be set apart, it starts with obedience.
FULLY obey, and CAREFULLY obey. Do that, and “you will experience all these blessings.”
