Obedience Through Scripture
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” - 2 Timothy 3:16
Yesterday, we talked about prayer. If you want to remain obedient to God, you need to have a consistent prayer life. Prayer is the resource we have to be able to talk to God and to hear from Him.
But there is another way we can hear from God, and that is through Scripture. While God is not limited in resources that He can use to reach us, perhaps none is more powerful than Scripture.
The Lord uses Scripture to relate to our personal lives and the circumstances we find ourselves in.
Have you ever gone to church with something heavy on your heart, and the pastor opened the Bible and started reading a story, and that story sounded just like your life? You swear it is as if the pastor knew your circumstances and handpicked the passage he was going to read just for you. .
It is amazing how God works. God loves to use Scripture to get our attention, to give us advice, to implement wisdom into us, and so many other things. These are things we often cannot get outside of Scripture.
When we are too busy scrolling through TikTok, Twitter, or Instagram, we are missing out on valuable lessons God wants to teach us. This is not to demonize those platforms, but when is the last time you opened your Bible app and scrolled through it like you do social media?
God wants to communicate with you. And one of His primary forms of doing that is through the Bible. If we do not open His Word, we can miss out on what He wants to teach us. And how are we going to be obedient when we do not know what He wants us to do?
If you want to obey God, communicate with Him and allow Him to communicate with you. It all starts with PRAYER and SCRIPTURE.

Thank you pastor Ed. I am handicapped and unable to drive so I watch you online. A friend takes me to cbc once in a while though. But I have been blessed whenever I have heard you preach. Thank you! And I thank God for you!
