Going to Church

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” - Hebrews 10:24-25

Listen...I know what you are thinking. You read this title and think I am using this devotional as a platform to get you in the pews on Sunday morning. The truth is, while I would love for you to come worship with us at CBC, it isn’t about coming to our church specifically. It is about going to A CHURCH that allows you to grow.

We have talked ad nauseum about obedience, following God’s will, and living out His purpose in our lives. We have also looked at practical ways we can do that. Well, one of the best ways to gain wisdom, learn the will of God, and stay strong in your faith is to find a church you can consistently attend.

This is not just coming from a pastor, but the Apostle Paul said it in Hebrews 10:24-25, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.”

Paul tells us not to neglect meeting with each other, and that is exactly what we get from church! Whether it is in an actual sanctuary, or in small groups at someone’s house, we need a community around us to help us in our walk with Christ.

You are not expected to walk alone. God never intended for you to do life by yourself. That is what the church is for! Let others come alongside you – encouraging you, holding you accountable, and loving on you. The Christian life is much better when you have a community around you!
