What’s Holding You Back?

“Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” - Genesis 18:14

If you followed along with us yesterday, you probably felt a conviction. If there is something that you have been putting off doing, God wants you to know that now is the time. You have waited for so long, you have thought about it, wrestled with it, and weighed the pros and cons, but you haven’t just stepped out in the water and gone for it.

So the question is why? If you haven’t said, “Yes God, I will do it.” Then the question is why? What is holding you back? Is it the fear of failure? Is it fear that others will judge you? Is it fear that there will come a point when you do not know what you are doing? Are you afraid that God won’t be with you every step of the way?

First, before we can step out into faith and act upon what God has called us to do, we must identify what is holding us back. Maybe you already know, and you just feel like it’s too much to overcome. If that is you, I want you to know, nothing is too much for God.

In Genesis 18:14 God asks the question, “Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” Here, Abraham and Sarah are really old. They have been asking for a child for years, but it wasn’t God’s timing yet. So they lost faith in God. They didn’t believe He could do what He said He would do.

So He asked them, is anything too hard for God? What is holding you back? You don’t think God has the power or the ability to overcome what you are worried about? You don’t think the God who is calling you into this journey has everything you will need along the way?

It’s time to take a leap of faith. God has your back. And whatever it is that is holding you back, isn’t going to hold you back any longer. God is waiting for you. Step out of the boat and walk with Him! He wants to take you on the journey you were meant to walk.
