Fear of The Unknown
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” - Romans 8:28
Has God given you clarity in your life? Has He made it clear what you need to be doing and what path you should be pursuing? You might say, “Yes Pastor, God has made it clear but...” And that is where the fear comes in.
We can get so creative in how we phrase it, but the bottom line is, when we delay obedience to God when it comes to His purpose for our life, we are afraid. God wants to do amazing things in our life, and yet we are afraid to allow Him to do them!
What are we afraid of? As we have already looked at, we are afraid of failure... we are afraid of judgment... and we are also afraid of the unknown.
Many of us like to be in control. Or at least we like to feel like we are in control. We even work our lives around being in control. We like to control what we do, when we do it, and how we do it. And if we can, we even like to control those who do it with us.
But following God’s will isn’t like that. Following God requires faith. And faith is admitting that we aren’t in control. It is trusting God even when we don’t know what is coming.
God might have made His purpose for you abundantly clear. And it sounds amazing, but you don’t know every step you are going to take. And that scares you. But did you know that He will work it all out for you? Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
Following God’s will means giving up control. But that act of trust will be the best decision you ever make. Let God take the reins. He can do far more than you could ever ask or imagine. Just dare to see where He leads you!
