BeReal.
“The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in those who tell the truth.” - Proverbs 12:22
There is a new social media app making waves right now. What is interesting about it is that its strategy is completely different from most social media apps. The app is called “BeReal.” And it is designed to counter these apps using heavy editing features.
The idea of the app is that at a random point in the day, you take a picture. The picture is taken from both angles. In other words, it takes a picture of the people in front of you, and a selfie of you as you’re taking the picture. There is one catch: the app only gives you a 2-minute warning before you have to take the picture.
This is intentional. So that you do not have time to get all done up and ready, as well as pick some extravagant place to take the picture. The picture is also not edited. The picture that is taken is the one that is posted. The point is to “BE REAL.” You can’t portray one lifestyle for just a quick snapshot only to return to your normal life.
The app is capturing you in real-time, living your real life. It is a refreshing concept that doesn’t allow you to portray yourself far differently than what you actually are. And isn’t that what we should all be doing anyways? Shouldn’t we all “be real?”
Proverbs 12:22 says, “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in those who tell the truth.”
Now, I am not trying to condemn you for editing your pictures on Instagram or your videos on TikTok. This is not a sin or something that God speaks against. What I am asking is, are you comfortable with your “real” life? Or are you constantly trying to portray something more?
God wants you to be content with what you have. He promises to always provide for your needs. You do not need to “keep up with the Joneses,” and live a life beyond your means. The app is a great concept, but one that everyone should be living by. God wants all of us to BE REAL!

Good morning from IOWA!
I am so appreciative of you and your insights. I am a grandmother who has 2 teen grandchildren living with me. I am thankful to have trusting people give me info on anything WWW! My sister attends your church... and I was fortunate to be able to come with her last Easter. In the meantime, you continue to be in our lives via CBC APP! The kids REALLY ENJOY watching you.... You are so relatable! Again, thank you for all you do, in Jesus' name!
Bless you...
Terri
