Accessing God’s Word
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” - Hebrews 4:12
Are you regularly accessing the Word of God? With this question, I am not asking if you just regularly read the Bible. What I am asking is, when life gets difficult and times get tough, where do you go? Where does your mind go?
For many, it is easy to get anxious or depressed because of your current circumstances. Some turn to former addictions and things that gave them quick hits of dopamine to ease the pain. Others start to listen to the voice of the enemy telling them this is their new life, and it just going to get worse from here.
But did you know that you don’t have to fall into any of that? As a believer, you have the Word of God!
Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Did you catch that? The Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. What this means is that no matter how strong the enemy comes at you, or no matter how hard life hits, it is no match for God.
But that isn’t just some God in theory that is way out there in the universe. That is the God who wants a personal relationship with you. He might not verbalize words to you from Heaven, but that doesn’t mean He isn’t still communicating with you.
And how does He communicate? Through His Word! The Bible gives us everything we need through every circumstance and challenge we will ever face. The question is, do you have access to it?
If you don’t regularly study His Word, and you can’t recall what He has told you, how will you stand up in life’s most difficult moments? It is one thing to own a Bible; it is another to regularly be spending time in it with God.
When you are immersed in His Word, you will have access to its power even when it is not physically with you. Do you have access to God’s Word?
