It Doesn’t Work That Way
“As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance.” - 1 Peter 1:14
Have you been praying to God and asking for a blessing that just seems like it’s never going to come? If you want to be blessed by God, you cannot continue to live in sin. Or another way I like to say it is “if it don’t work in your home, it ain’t going to work in heaven.”
Have your kids ever asked for something while they are being rebellious, disrespectful, and disobedient, yet they want to be blessed? When they do, you’re probably thinking, “You better get in alignment with how this house is being led. You can’t just do what you’re doing and ask for this and want that.”
It doesn’t work that way. You should be striving to live in compliance and obedience. If it works that way in our homes, don’t you think it works that way in heaven? God says I want to bless you more than you ever asked for, but you can’t be living in sin and expecting the full blessing of heaven.
1 Peter 1:14 says, “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance.”
What sin is holding you back from the blessings of God? Maybe you have been waiting for God to change something in your life. You have been praying, waiting, and hoping for God to do something big. Maybe it is a promotion, maybe it is leading you into a new relationship, or maybe it is changing your vocation.
Whatever it is, God cannot fully bless you when you are living in sin. It doesn’t work that way. If you want to be the recipient of all that God has in store for you, you must get rid of that sin. Leave it behind and find God’s best for your life.
