Spiritually Poor
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.” - 2 Corinthians 8:9
Are you sitting on an oil-filled ranch? Yesterday, we discussed a man who was living in poverty and was going to have to foreclose on his land. Just before he had to give it up, he had a team come to dig up the ground just to see if there was anything valuable beneath the surface.
Lo and behold, there was more oil than he could have ever imagined. Mr. Yates was now a millionaire. The problem was, he was always a millionaire. He just didn’t realize what he had. Here was a man who had access to a fortune, and yet lived in poverty.
The question is, are you doing the same thing? You might not be living above a surface filled with oil in a literal sense. But what you are missing out on is even better. If you are a believer, someone who has given their life to Jesus Christ, then you are sitting on much more than an oil fortune; you have access to a spiritual fortune.
What God can give you is far beyond any earthly possession. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.”
From before you were born, God had a plan for your life. The plan God has for you is the best version of your life that you could possibly live. And even if it doesn’t match up to what you think you want right now, when you align your will to His, you will soon realize what He wants really is the best thing for you.
You have access to that fortune. You have access to the life He wants you to live. You have access to all of the resources to make it happen. You have access to a God that can help you overcome every obstacle and solve every problem along the way.
Do not live spiritually poor any longer. The fortune God has in store for you is greater than anything you could imagine, and it’s available to you. Stop living in spiritual poverty. It’s time to get rich!
