Going After the Heart of God
“My soul clings to you your right hand upholds me.” – Psalm 63:8
How do you know what God wants for your life? In the same way you know what your best friend, your wife, or your child wants; you spend time with Him. The more time you spend with God, the more you learn about His heart.
What God wants is for us to be more like Jesus. And as our heart becomes more like Jesus, that character pours out into our lives in whatever capacity God wants to use us for.
God uses all kinds of people in all kinds of jobs. He uses preachers, athletes, musicians, accountants, maids, and schoolteachers. He uses grandparents, aunts, uncles, college students, and children.
It is not so much the WHAT, God will reveal that to you in one way or another. But what’s most important is the WHO. And the WHO is Jesus. God wants you to chase after His heart. Psalm 63:8 says, “My soul clings to you your right hand upholds me.”
When you chase after the heart of God, He reveals Himself to you. God reveals His ways, His loves, and His priorities. As you spend time with Him, you will become more like Him. That is when others will start to notice.
You will hear things like, “There is something DIFFERENT about you.” People will ask you why you do certain things because they are things they aren’t used to seeing.
Going back to our original question, how do you know what God wants for your life? He wants you to chase after the heart of Jesus. When you spend time with Him, your heart becomes more and more like His.
This will pour over into every area of your life. The impact you will have will be greater than you could have ever imagined. It’s not about what you are doing. God will take care of that. First, worry about who you are chasing after. And as you chase the heart of God, your life will be transformed in ways you didn’t even know were possible.
