Motivational Gifts
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation, the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” - Romans 12:6-8
Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? Over the next three days, we are going to dive deeper into what these gifts actually are. We are going to look at the three main groupings of spiritual gifts: motivational gifts, ministry gifts, and manifestation gifts.
What are motivational gifts? They are explained in Romans 12. Verses 6-8 give a snapshot, saying, “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation, the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”
There are seven motivational gifts: prophecy, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and mercy. God gives His people motivational gifts as a tool to empower believers to serve Him. He helps us use these gifts to meet the needs of others.
For instance, when we are “givers” and like to give, we motivate others to want to give as well. Leaders motivate others in whatever area they are leading them in. Motivational gifts are great because they have such a significant impact on the lives of others.
Has God blessed you with one of these seven motivational gifts? If so, how are you using them to serve others and to serve God? He didn’t just give us these gifts for them to sit on the shelf. God wants you to put your gifts to use. How can you begin to use your gifts to bring glory and honor to God’s name, today?
