Seeking First God's Kingdom

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33

In the midst of life's busyness and demands, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters. However, Jesus challenges us to prioritize God above all else, trusting that when we seek His kingdom first, He takes care of the rest.

Matthew 6:33 teaches us the importance of seeking God's kingdom and His righteousness as our primary pursuit. When we place God at the center of our lives, aligning our desires with His will, everything else falls into place.

As we prioritize God, we acknowledge His lordship and sovereignty over every area of our lives. This requires intentionality, daily seeking Him in prayer, studying His Word, and cultivating a deeper relationship with Him.

When God is the foundation of our lives, we experience peace and freedom from anxiety. Instead of striving to control outcomes, we trust in His providence and timing.

Prioritizing God does not mean neglecting our responsibilities or desires. Rather, it means entrusting them to God, seeking His guidance in every decision, and surrendering the need for self-sufficiency.

Consider the example of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42. Martha was preoccupied with her tasks, but Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, prioritizing His presence and teachings. Jesus commended Mary for choosing what was truly important.

Challenge yourself: Are you actively seeking God's kingdom above all else? Are there areas in your life where you need to surrender control and place them in God's hands?

Choose to put God first today, and watch as He takes care of the rest. Prioritize time with Him, prioritize loving others as He loves, and prioritize His will in your decisions. Trust that when you seek Him first, all that you truly need will be provided.
