Shining in the Darkness
"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, 'Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.'" - Matthew 2:1-2
As we approach the Christmas season, we are reminded of the incredible events that took place over two thousand years ago—the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In Matthew 2:1-2, we read about the 3 wise men from the east who followed a star, seeking the one who had been born King of the Jews. Their journey, illuminated by a celestial light, reminds us of the profound message of Christmas: the light of Christ shining in the darkness.
During the Christmas season, we witness the world transforming into a place of warmth, kindness, and generosity. We see acts of love and compassion, both great and small, that remind us of the light of Christ shining in the midst of the world's darkness. People reach out to those in need, bringing hope to the hopeless and spreading love to the unloved.
The story of the 3 wise men teaches us that God's light can be found even in the most unexpected places. Like the star that guided the wise men, Christ's light often shines in the darkest corners of our lives, offering us hope, purpose, and direction. This light illuminates our path, showing us the way to the Savior.
Christmas is a time for us to be the bearers of Christ's light, just as the wise men were. In our celebrations and traditions, we have the opportunity to point others toward the true meaning of Christmas. We can share the message of Christ's birth, the ultimate gift of love, with those who may be lost in the darkness of this world.
The light of Christ continues to shine brightly, not just during the Christmas season but throughout the entire year. We are called to be carriers of this light, reflecting the love, joy, and hope that Christ brings to a world in need. In our actions and words, we can show others the way to the Savior, who is the light of the world.
This Christmas, let us be like the 3 wise men, following the star that leads us to Christ. Let us carry His light into the darkness, sharing His love and grace with those we encounter. May our lives be a testament to the power of the light of Christ, shining brightly in a world that so desperately needs it.
