Repent First
"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." - Acts 3:19
When we think about moving forward after a mistake, our first instinct is often to apologize or ask for forgiveness. And while that’s important, it’s only part of the process. There’s a big difference between saying “I’m sorry” and truly repenting. The Bible doesn’t just call us to apologize, it calls us to repent. And repentance is more than a feeling of regret or sorrow. It’s about turning away from sin and heading in the complete opposite direction.
Repentance is crucial because it’s the first step in moving forward. It’s not just about admitting you were wrong; it’s about making a conscious decision to leave that wrong behind for good. It’s a turning point, a moment when you choose to walk away from what was dragging you down and start pursuing the path God has laid out for you.
Without repentance, you can’t truly move forward. You’ll stay stuck in the same cycle, making the same mistakes over and over again. Repentance is what breaks that cycle. It’s not just about stopping the wrong, it’s about running toward what’s right. It’s choosing to never go back to that place of sin and hurt. And when you make that decision, God is there, ready to guide you forward with His grace and love.
Repentance isn’t always easy. It requires humility. It requires change. It requires letting go of what might feel familiar, even if it’s harmful. But if you want to grow, if you want to move beyond your mistakes and step into the future God has for you, it starts with repentance.
Ask yourself today, have I truly repented of the things holding me back? Are you ready to turn away from your mistakes and never go back? Because that’s what repentance is. It’s not just regret, it’s a complete turnaround. It’s the first step in the right direction, and it’s the key to unlocking the future God has waiting for you. Turn to Him today, and let repentance be the foundation for your forward movement.
