Let God Change Your Status

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you." - 1 Peter 5:6

Remember when Facebook statuses were a big deal? You could log in and change your status to reflect your mood, your activities, or just a random thought. It was a way of letting everyone know what was going on with you. In life, it seems that many people are still trying to change their status.

Not on social media, but in society. Everyone is striving for an upgrade, wanting to be seen, heard, and admired. There’s this constant pressure to prove your worth through career advancements, social circles, or material possessions. But God hasn’t called us to chase after status like the world does.

God calls us to a different pursuit: obedience. The world says, "Promote yourself. Make your own way." But God says, "Humble yourself, and I will lift you up at the right time." It’s not about trying to outshine others or forcing your way to the top. God’s plan for your life includes promotion, but it happens on His terms, not yours.

When you live in obedience to God, He will take care of your status. You don’t have to manipulate circumstances, hustle for recognition, or wear yourself out trying to gain approval from people. God sees you, and in due time, He will elevate you.

True promotion comes from God. The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under His mighty hand. That means trusting Him with where you are now, instead of striving for what you think you should have. It means being faithful in the small things, content with your current season, and trusting that God knows the perfect moment to lift you up.

He promises that when the time is right, He will change your status in a way that no one else can. And when God does it, it’s far better than anything you could ever orchestrate on your own.

So instead of chasing status, chase after God. Focus on obeying His word, living faithfully, and trusting Him with your future. Let Him change your status when the time comes. When you follow God, you don’t need to worry about elevating yourself. He’s got that covered.
