Renewing Your Mind
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
- Romans 12:2
- Romans 12:2
Over the last couple days, we have began to talk about what it looks like to live as a Christian and how we are to follow Jesus. Romans 12:1 commands us to give our bodies as a living sacrifice. For many, that is a foreign concept and definitely contradicts the popular practices of society today.
Even believers fall into the trap of giving into their own bodily urges. But why? Because we too often are quick to conform to the patterns of this world. We want to be cool. We want to be “in” and we want to do things everyone else is doing. This is exactly what Romans 12:2 is addressing when it says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
See, God has an amazing plan or your life. He wants to do things in and through you that you cannot even begin to fathom. What God will do in you and through you are things you could never do on your own. But the only way to find out what God is up to and what He wants to do in your life is to renew your mind.
Scripture says, “Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” There is an old saying that says what you put in your mind is what will come out. “Garbage in, garbage out.” When all we are putting in our minds is the things of this world, that is what will come out. And then we will not be able to decipher God’s good and perfect will.
But when we renew our minds and are studying His Word, transforming what we know and believe from a worldly perspective to a Godly perspective, then we can learn the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. It all starts with renewing your mind!

Reminds me of the message "be insulated, not isolated" May our Holiness of being made in His image (being transformed) lead others to the Truth!
