What Are You Worried About?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” - Philippians 4:6

What has you so worried? What makes you anxious? What thought is keeping you awake at night? We have spent the last few days talking about gratitude and thankfulness, specifically being thankful for what God has done, is doing, and will do.

But maybe you can’t seem to practice gratitude because you are too caught up with worry about what is going on in your life right now. You say, “Pastor, I want to be thankful. But I just can’t stop thinking about what if ______ happens. I am so worried about how this situation is going to turn out, I can’t even see straight.”

Did you know the Bible says not to worry? Easier said than done right? But is it, actually? What are you worried about? It is said that where we worry the most reveals where we trust God the least.

Philippians 4:6 commands us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Did you catch that? Do not be anxious about ANYTHING. But in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING make your request to God. The reason you don’t have to worry is because you can pray about it.

If you have time to worry about it, you have time to pray about it. Has God not delivered you time and time again? What makes you think He won’t deliver you this time? When you are worried, make it known to God. Tell Him what you are struggling with.

Then, give it to Him. Let Him take care of it. He has taken care of you time and time again, and this is no different. So seriously, what are you worried about?
