It’s Who He Is

“He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” - Titus 3:5-7

John 15:13 reminds us that “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” There is nothing you can do to show someone you love them more than to die for them.

I’m not asking you to go die for those you love because Jesus already did that. He died for us because He loved us that much, not because we earned it. See, Jesus dying for us wasn’t actually about us at all. It was all about Him.

Titus 3:5-7 says, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”

It’s not about you and what you do. It’s about Him. Jesus died for us because that is who He is. Even when we don’t deserve it, He saves us. Even when we don’t deserve it, He pours out His grace upon us. Even when we don’t deserve it, He showers us with mercy.

Too many believers get caught up in what they do or don’t deserve. But really this is just a bad perspective. Because when you are thinking about what you do or don’t deserve, you’re thinking about...well, you.

The mercy and grace poured into your life are not a result of anything you’ve done. But it’s all about Him. It’s what He’s done. It’s who He is. Thank Jesus today for WHO HE IS. And thank Him that He gives you blessings when you don’t deserve them and withholds the punishments you do deserve.

Why? Because it’s just who He is!
