Faithful in the Small Things

"One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much." – Luke 16:10

It’s easy to overlook the small things. A job that feels insignificant, a task that seems beneath you, or a responsibility that appears to have no impact can feel unimportant in the grand scheme of life. We often focus on what’s next—the bigger role, the better opportunity, the grander purpose. But God sees things differently.

Jesus reminds us in Luke 16:10 that faithfulness in the little things matters deeply. Why? Because those small moments are tests of character, integrity, and faith. God uses them to see how we handle what’s been entrusted to us. If we can’t be faithful with the little, why would He give us more?

Think about David. Before he became king, he was a shepherd tending to his father’s sheep. It wasn’t glamorous work, and it certainly wasn’t the kind of role that screamed “future king.” But it was in those fields that David learned to protect, lead, and trust in God. His faithfulness in the small things prepared him for the greatness that was to come.

The same is true for you. That project at work that no one else wants to touch? It’s not just a task, it’s an opportunity to show diligence and excellence. That seemingly ordinary act of kindness toward a neighbor? It’s a chance to reflect Christ’s love. Even the quiet moments of prayer and study that no one else sees are shaping you for something greater.

When you focus on the small things with the same energy and care as the big things, you’re demonstrating that you can be trusted. God is looking for hearts that are faithful, not just when the stakes are high, but when the task is humble.

Stop overlooking what’s in front of you. Instead of longing for “more” or “better,” embrace the opportunities God has already given you. Trust that He is using these moments to grow you, refine you, and prepare you for the next step. In His hands, even the smallest act of faithfulness can lead to something extraordinary.

I am so grateful for having God in my life. Because of Jesus Christ finding it in His heart to come to me. For having mercy on someone like me. He has and continues to do what I cannot do for myself. I sat here thinking of all the things “I” have done. The hard work etc. Really though on reflection what I do is turn to Him every day because without Him I am lost. He places me in a position and has done so so many times to be that guy who has integrity works hard, honest, etc. A lot of times I didnt even intend to do things but was just barely making it by that day. Yet somehow it just so happens things go a certain way. He has His hand on my life and since I turned to Him everything changed. That’s the truth. God gets all the glory for me. Everything else is just an illusion
